NORWICH – Peter J. Gennett, 58, of Norwich, passed away Sunday evening, Nov. 12, 2006 at his home, with his family at his side.
Born in Hempstead on Aug. 5, 1948, Peter was the son of John and Madeline (Burton) Gennett. He grew up in the Port Jefferson area and was a graduate of the Hempstead schools. On Oct. 1, 1977, in Deer Park, Peter married Priscilla Andrea and together they have made Norwich their home since 1989. While living in Norwich, Peter was employed by the Bolus Freight System in Scranton, Pa., as a truck driver for a period of 17 years.
Peter was an easy-going, laid-back sort of guy who enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He was also an avid horse enthusiast who enjoyed riding and breaking horses, attending horse shows and rodeos.
Peter is survived by his wife, Priscilla of Norwich; his children. Patience and Peter “P. J.” Gennett, both of Norwich; his brothers, John and Richard Gennett; and his sister, Doris Heidrich.
A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later date in the Norwich Quarter Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m.
