GREENE – Marion R. Hammerle, 89, of Greene, formerly of McDonough passed away on Dec. 21, 2010 at Susquehanna Nursing Center, Johnson City.
She was born on Oct. 14, 1921 in McDonough a daughter of the late Floyd L. and Grace (Richardson) Barrows.
She is survived by her children, Leon and Jeanne Barrows of Oxford, Linda and Douglas Preston of Smithville Flats, and Nancy Stratton and Douglas Reynolds of Sandy Hook, Va.; seventeen grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by her husband, James Hammerle in 1964; her daughter, Betty Wheelock in 2010 and her sister and brothers, Olive Kenyon, Cecil Barrows and Lynn Barrows.
Marion was a former member of the McDonough United Methodist Church and was a founding member of the Old Fashioned Bible Church. She had worked for Branem Industries and retired from Gladding Braiding Co. in South Otselic. She loved hosting her entire family for Christmas, packed full of memories and for generations she was still the “proud keeper” of all the family vital records.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 27 at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford with her son Leon Barrows officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Sylvan Lawn Cemetery, Greene.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, Oxford on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
