SHERBURNE – Judy (Melloy) VanWoert, 64, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Sherburne, passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2006 after a brief illness.
She will be deeply missed by her family and all those who came in contact with her. Judy first came to Chenango County in 1976, when she moved from Boston to own and operate the Sherburne Inn until 1981. She lived in Oneonta from 1989 to 1994, before moving to Las Vegas.
Judy was a bubbling and exuberant personality, and was a diehard fan of her sons’ athletic contests, and never missed a home or away game. She could often be heard ringing a cowbell from across the playing field and cheering for her sons and their teams.
Judy is survived by her husband, J. David VanWoert of Las Vegas, Nev.; three sons, William Hufnagle of Oxford, Mark Hufnagle of Winchendon, Mass. and Richard Mellow of Nashua, N.H.; six grandchildren, Kinsey Hufnagle, Brett Saroka, and Kaden Hufnagle of Oxford, Ashley Hufnagle, Robert Hufnagle and Sierra Hufnagle of Winchendon, Mass. along with two step-daughters, Nancy VanWoert of New York City and Dianne VanWoert of Maryland.
Services will be held on Friday at Palm Mortuary Jone, 1600 South Jones Avenue, Las Vegas, Nev. 89146, (702) 464-8420 and at a time to be announced in Mass.
