SHERBURNE – W. Jerry Owens, 59, of North Main St., Sherburne, passed away Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011 at the Stratton VA Medical Center, Albany.
He was born April 2, 1951 in New Berlin, a son of Albert and Sarah Gould Owens. Jerry was a graduate of Sherburne-Earlville Central School in 1969, received an Associate Degree in Business from SUNY Morrisville, and his BA in Business from SUNY Tech in Utica. His career was focused on nursing home administration. Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He had been married to the former Cherry Lamb. Jerry was a member of the National Rifle Association and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his mother, Sarah Owens of Sherburne; daughter and son-in-law, Kirsche Owens-Spicer and David Spicer of FLW, MO; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Erika Vranjes of Buffalo; sister and brother-in-law, Laurie and Patrick Hawkins of Oneonta; brother, Tom Owens of Valdese, NC; four grandchildren including Kyrsyka Owens of FLW, MO. He was predeceased by a son, Kristian Owens in 1993, and his father, Albert.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Interment in the Sherburne Quarter Cemetery will be in the spring.
