SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Anita Mae Peet, 88, of South New Berlin, passed away Friday, Nov. 17, 2006 at Chase Memorial Nursing Home in New Berlin where she had been a resident for the past few years.
She was born in Morris on Nov. 10, 1918, the daughter of Albert and Estella (Young) Ford. She was married to S. Owen Peet on March 23, 1940 at her parents’ home in South New Berlin. Owen passed away on March 8, 1986. In her younger years she was employed at Taco of New Berlin and also was a baby sitter for several area families. The majority of her time was spent as a homemaker and raising her beloved family.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of South New Berlin, the Telephones Pioneers of America and the Morris Senior Citizens Club. Anita is survived by her children, Estella (Snooky) Watkins and husband Rick of Fairport, (Rick) Peet and wife Julie of Gilbertsville, her five grandchildren, Amy Costello, Jackie Barker, Matthew Barker, Brittney Peet, Tyler Peet and her two great grandchildren, Nathan and Kaitlyn Fuller. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Miriam martin of Rome, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Merritt Ford.
Calling hours will be held Tuesda at the Johnston Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Kurt Funke officiating. Committal services and burial will follow in the Edmeston Union Cemetery.
