MT. UPTON – Alice E. Thatford, 80, of Mt. Upton, passed away Thursday evening, Jan. 27, 2011 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born in Brooklyn in October of 1930, she was the daughter of Charles and Alice St. Charles Bolte. Alice was married to Stephen J. Thatford who passed away in June of 1986. Following her marriage, Alice and her husband moved to Northport where they made their home for many years. In 1985 she moved to the Mt. Upton area where she continued to make her home until her passing.
Alice is survived by her children; Robert Thatford and his wife Roseann of Guilford, Diane Caruso and her husband Ronald of Commack, Long Island, Stephen Thatford Jr. and his wife Joyce of Ronkonkoma, L.I., Daniel Thatford and his wife Chris of Huntington, L.I., Alice Baker and her husband Jim of Mt. Upton and Thomas Thatford and his wife Mary of Huntington, L.I. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Stephen, Alice was predeceased by a daughter Nancy, her sisters Mabel O’Connor and Pat Eletto and her brothers Edward and Robert Bolte.
A prayer service for Alice will be held at 3 p.m. Friday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Ralph Bove will officiate. Interment will be in Long Island.
Family and friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Friday from 1 to 3 p.m.
