SOUTH EDMESTON – Keith W. Landers, 63, of South Edmeston, passed away peacefully at his home on Feb. 2, 2011 following a long illness.
Keith was born on Jan. 18, 1948 in Norwich, the son of Roger and Irene (Barnes) Landers. His childhood was spent in Oxford where he was a 1967 graduate of Oxford Central School. He received his associate degree from Morrisville State College.
From 1968-1971 Keith served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Hornet VS-37.
Keith was a manager at C&S Companies of Liverpool, and was later employed by Kraft Foods of South Edmeston from 1981-2001.
He is survived by his mother Irene; sister and brother-in-law, Donna & Edward Somers of Oxford; nephews, Stephen & Shannon Lindridge of Newark Valley, Scott & Tina Lindridge of Preston and Chad & Christy Somer of Preston, as well as several grandnieces and nephews. He is also survived by good friends Bill W., Dr. Bob and his devoted caregiver Susan.
He was predeceased by his grandparents and his father, Roger Landers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin, with Pastor Jeff McLallen officiating. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, also at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
Keith was a fan of NASCAR with his favorite driver being Dale Earnhardt. He also loved the game of football and was a New York Giants fan. e enjoyed spending his spare time at his camp.
Memorial donations may be made to the South Edmeston Community Church, South Edmeston.
