DERUYTER – Marilyn G. Beesmer, 81, of DeRuyter, passed away Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at her home.
She was born in South Otselic and was an LPN at the former Herrick Nursing Home, DeRuyter.
Marilyn was a member of the First Baptist Church of South Otselic where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the church choir. She was a 60-year charter member of the DeRuyter Fire Department Auxiliary, a Girl Scout leader and a 4-H leader. She was a foster parent to 79 children and attended Cazenovia Senior Day Hab.
Surviving are her daughters, Sandra Bossard (James) of Upper Marlboro, Md., Susan Nichols of East Freetown, Sharon and Shirley Beesmer of DeRuyter; sons, Richard Beesmer of Lebanon, Va. and Howard Beesmer of Truxton; sister Genevieve MacDonald of Norwich; brother Earl Frances Green of Liverpool; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, John.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of South Otselic. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, DeRuyter. Calling hours will be Monday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. at the church.
