SHERBURNE – Nora Jane McNeil Jeffrey, of North Main St., passed away unexpectedly Saturday, April 9, 2011 at her home.
A daughter of Archie and Mary McKeown McNeil, she was born in Norwich where she received her early education in St. Paul’s Catholic School and graduated from Norwich High School. Nora was united in marriage to Robert L. Jeffrey at St. Paul’s Church in Norwich. He predeceased her in 2010. A Sherburne resident most of her life, Nora worked at T.A.C.O., Bennett Ireland in Norwich, and then Cheseborough Ponds in Sherburne until her retirement. Nora’s life was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who had a strong belief in her faith.
Nora was a communicant of St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Surviving are her children, Mary Anne Carpenter of Lee Center; Robert M. and Monica Jeffrey of Norwich; Theresa and Charles Mastro of Sherburne; a sister, Grace Runyon of Sherburne; her beloved grandchildren, Megan and Mark Carpenter, Robert Christopher and Nicole Jeffrey and Matthew Mastro; brother and sisters-in-law, Charles and Sandy Jeffrey, Ruth Jeffrey all of Sherburne and Barbara McNeil of Norwich; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by six brothers, Archie, James, Robert, William, John and Charles McNeil, and two sisters, Mary Martin and Agnes Theresa McNeil.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Malachy’s Church, Sherburne.
Interment will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Norwich.
There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
