ZELLA B. CAMPBELL
SMYRNA – Zella Belle Campbell, 93, of Stowell Road, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011 at her home.
She was born Aug. 12, 1917 in McDonough, a daughter of Augustus Deverne and Lillian May Thornton Burke and was a graduate of Smyrna schools. On Sept. 6, 1938, Zella married Lytle Sprague Stowell in Georgetown. He predeceased her on Dec. 2, 1963. She married Kenneth W. Campbell on Nov. 8, 1985 in Florence. He predeceased her on April 1, 1988. Zella was a homemaker who devoted her life to her family and was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed country music, flowers and birds.
Surviving are her children, Harlie and Martha Stowell of Smyrna; Shirley and Paul Atwell of New Berlin, Peggy and Gerald Fleming, and Sally Stackhouse, all of Smyrna; a son-in-law, Ronald Harvey of Smyrna; step-children, Wayne and Barbara Campbell, Stephen and Daralynn Campbell, all of Smyrna; Sally Merrill of Sherburne; Kristine Campbell and David Crugnale of Norwich; 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Betty Harvey; a son-in-law, Raymond Stackhouse; two grandsons, Brent and Brian Fleming; a great-grandson, Cory Harvey; two step-sons, William and Lee Campbell; a step-daughter-in-law, Marla Campbell; a step-son-in-law, Richard Merrill; and her special friend Mildred “Mike” Manwarren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville, followed by interment in the Willcox Cemetery, Smyrna.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m.
