EARLVILLE – Robert H. “Bob” Beesmer, 82, of Earlville Rd., formerly of Montrose, Pa., passed away Friday, April 22, 2011 at Community Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, Hamilton.
He was born Sept. 3, 1928 in Columbus, a son of Frank and Blanche Horton Beesmer and received his education in Sherburne schools. Bob proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On Oct. 21, 1950 he married Marie Shimansky, who predeceased him on May 6, 1992. Bob was a self-employed master carpenter by trade who worked on many projects in New York and in Pennsylvania where he resided from 1950 to 2004.
Bob was a life member of the United Fire Company, Montrose, Pa.; and a life member of the Montrose American Legion Post.
Surviving are two sisters, Ruth Beesmer of Norwich; and Margaret Foster of Smyrna; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving is a special cousin, Janice Horton, of Earlville with whom he lived since 2004. He was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, John and Marilyn Beesmer; and brother-in-law, Charles “Corky” Foster.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Monday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Burial will be in St. Augustine’s Cemetery, Brackney, Pa.
