SHERBURNE – Victor E. Mikalunas Sr., 87, of Sherburne, passed away on June 4, 2011 in Norwich.
Victor was born on July 25, 1923 in Brookfield, the son of Charles M. & Filomena (Karalunas) Mikalunas.
His childhood was spent in the Brookfield, West Edmeston, Columbus and Sherburne areas. He attended the District 4 School on Talet Rd for 9 years and later attended New Berlin Central School. He has been a member of St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne since 1945. He became a Dairy Farmer working in Chenango County for 40 years.
On Feb. 10, 1945 he married Nina Winton in Sherburne. She survives him.
Victor is also survived by his children; Charles Arthur Mikalunas of Sherburne, Victor Edward Mikalunas Jr. of Morrisville, Martin Wayne Mikalunas of MA, Dean Edward Mikalunas of Sherburne, Arlene Sue Knapp of Oxford, Cody Rock Mikalunas of West Edmeston, Bodie Ben Mikalunas of West Edmeston, Barrett Dale Mikalunas of Sherburne. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one son, Steven Mikalunas in 1947.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Malachy’s Church, Sherburne with Father Lester Smith officiating.
Calling hours will be held prior to the funeral service on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin.
