EARLVILLE – L. Marie Coye, 83, formerly of Earlville, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011 at the Unihealth Post-Acute Care Facility in Rock Hill, S.C.
She was born Jan. 26, 1928 in the Town of Lebanon, a daughter of Christian and Leona Bisbe Oakes and was a graduate of Hamilton Central School in 1945. On July 1, 1945, Marie married Franklin T. Coye, in Randallsville, a blessed union of 58 years until he predeceased her on Oct. 31, 2003. Marie had worked at Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton for many years until her retirement. Previously, she had worked in the cafeteria at the Earlville Central School. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who treasured the time spent with her family. She enjoyed cooking, knitting and reading, as well as being an accomplished quilter who made quilts for everyone in the family. She was a woman of faith who took great comfort from reading her bible daily.
Marie was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Earlville for 64 years.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne and Lois Coye of Catawba, S.C. and Ralph Coye of Earlville; her beloved grandchildren, Wesley and Jennifer Coye, John and Carla Coye and Justin Coye; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A son, Wesley predeceased her on April 30, 1969.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the First Baptist Church, Earlville, followed by interment in the West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville on Friday from 5-8 p.m.
