NORWICH – Neva A. Stevens, 81, formerly of Chenango Lake, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011 at the Norwich Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Aug. 8, 1929 in Syracuse, a daughter of the late William and Clara VanLieu Burgess and was a graduate of Norwich High School. Neva was married to Gerald F. Stevens, who died in May 1969. A life long Norwich area resident, Neva worked for Chenango Memorial Hospital, Dr. Foster, Champion Products, and the Chenango County SPCA. She was a loving mother and grandmother who most enjoyed the times spent with her family. One of her favorite hobbies was gardening.
Surviving are her children, Joan and Dan Bauder of Stuart, Fla.; Cindy Turner of Endicott; Barbara and Jim Fowler of Binghamton; Ann and Joe Coe of Norwich; a sister, Dorothy Rifenburg of Hickory, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and her closest friend, Pearl Swingle of Norwich.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 1 in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Norwich.
There will be no calling hours.
