GREENE – Eugene (Gene) Erwin Hathaway 83, died Thursday, May 5, 2011 in Holmes Regional Medical Center Melbourne, Fla.
Born in Greene, he served in the Navy in World War II. After graduation from college, he joined the General Electric Company in Syracuse and worked there 32 years before retiring to Melbourne, Florida in 1985.
A loving husband and selfless father he is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Marilyn Hathaway of Melbourne, Florida; his brother William; his sons Steven Eugene of Palm Bay, Florida, Jay Walter (Caren) Syracuse, David John (Michelle), Stafford, Virginia, Jeffrey Allen (Jessica) Deland, Florida; grandchildren Christian, April, Aidan, Liam and Vaughn.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 6 at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, W. Chazy, NY.
