NORWICH – Shauna Michael Astalos, 14, of Norwich, passed away unexpectedly on Monday evening, Aug. 22, 2011, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born in Sidney in March of 1997, Shauna was the daughter of Jeremy and Christine Furgison Astalos. A beautiful-spirited person who liked to make things happy and loved to give, Shauna attended the Norwich schools and would have entered the 9th grade this fall.
Shauna is survived by her mother, Christine Furgison and step-dad, Shawn Wright; her dad and step-mom, Jeremy and Crystal Astalos; her sister, Shiane Astalos; her half-sister, McKenna Astalos, both of Guilford; her step-sister Nickia West of Guilford; and her half-brothers Devon Ireland of Guilford, Wyatt Wright of Norwich, and Jeremy Astalos of Guilford. Also surviving are Shauna’s maternal grandmother, Brenda Gatlin; and her paternal grandparents, Toni and Calvin Astalos, all of Guilford; her maternal great grandmother, Marsha F. Miner of Norwich; her paternal great grandmother, Joan Gatlin, and Joan’s companion, Gerald Hollenbeck of Guilford; great grandfather, Andy Gatlin of Franklin, N.J., her paternal great great grandmother Marion Astalos of New Jersey; and aunts, uncles, and cousins. Shauna was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Joseph B. Gatlin.
Funeral services for Shauna will be held at noon on Saturday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Brian Conover, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate.
