David Walker Jr.

LOS LUNAS, N. M. – David Walker Jr. passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 29, 2011 at his home in Los Lunas, N.M. Dave was born on June 29, 1951 in Canandaigua. He is predeceased by his parents, Evelyn and David Walker Sr. and his brother Scott Walker.
Dave married Sue (Klingman) Walker on Aug. 21, 1981. He was a proud member of Plumbers and Pipefitter’s Local 112 from 1972 until his death. He worked as a plumber and pipefitter in many Chenango and Broome County industries. Dave was an avid fisherman, hunter and story teller. He loved the outdoors and everything associated with it. Dave was a friend to all in need and had a heart as big as the western skies under which he has lived for the past 14 years. While not yet retired, Dave spent much of his time gardening, trying to get the New Mexico sand and clay to cooperate. In our hearts, Dave was a true mountaineer, who loved and understood the music in the wilderness. In the words of a mountain poet, Al Austin -
My home is a tent, my floor is of grass.
My grub, it varies at times.
My book is nature, each day but a page,
My music the breeze through the pines.
Dave is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sue Walker, and his stepson Colin Pollard. Dave is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Walker-Kelly and Laurie Walker; three nephews: Jared Weeks, Ian Sperber and Jesse Sperber; one niece, Diedra Davis; a great nephew, Henry Weeks and great niece, Amelia Weeks.
A memorial service will be held in October in Norwich. The family requests in lieu of flowers, that you take time to help the needy and if you choose, send donations to your local Humane Society or to www.lapdogrescue.org.
