Linda Lawrence


NORWICH – Linda K. Lawrence, 66, of Norwich, passed away Friday evening, Sept. 2, 2011, in the Wilson Regional Medical Center of Johnson City.
Born in July of 1945 in Berkeley, CA, Linda was the daughter of Doyle and Katherine Harris Fine. She grew up in Ft. Worth, TX, where she attended school. After leaving Texas, Linda lived in Minnesota, No. Dakota, and Indiana, where she worked as a counselor for special needs people and for alcohol and drug abuse. She was a veteran of the United States Army, having served her country during the Vietnam War. While stationed in Germany, Linda met her husband, James Lawrence, who was also serving in the military. Upon their return to the United States, they were married in Norwich on July 12, 1985. Linda and James lived in Georgia while he was still serving in the military, and in 1992 they returned to Norwich where they continued to make their home and Linda pursued and earned her Associates Degree from SUNY Morrisville, her Bachelor’s Degree from Binghamton University, and her Masters Degree in Social Science, also from Binghamton University. While living in Norwich, Linda was employed by the Norwich City Schools, working as a substitute teacher for the middle school and high school.
Linda is survived by her husband James of Norwich, her children: Dean Malone and wife Paige, MyRah and husband Scott Dye, Troy Malone and wife Kim, Darrell Lang and wife Cindy, Dixie Sorienio and husband Roger, Alexander Lawrence and wife Brani, and Jessica-Jamie Elsheimer; her grandchildren: Luke and Logan Malone, Tiffany and Danielle Wolf, Christen, Alexis, and Codi Dye, James and Tabitha Lang, William Lawrence, and Michael, Austin, and Anthony Elsheimer. Also surviving are a great grandson, Kaleb Blaylock-Wolf; her sister, Lynette Graham, and her brother, Doyle C. Fine, Jr., along with nephews Brian and Jeffery.
Funeral services for Linda will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Very Rev. Charles Taylor of New Berlin will officiate. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Friday from 9 to 11 a.m.
