NEW BERLIN – Cleora J. Ritchey, 87, of Grove Ave. formerly of Lelands Pond, passed away Monday, Oct. 3, 2011 at her home.
She was born in Rome, on Jan. 27, 1924 a daughter of the late Alfred and Rachel Bascom Brown and received her education in local schools. On Feb. 15, 1947 in Hamilton, she was united in marriage to James K. Ritchey. Mrs. Ritchey had worked at Marcy State Hospital; TACO of Sherburne and most recently did painting and wallpapering and was a house keeper in Hamilton until her retirement. She was a member of the W. Edmeston Baptist Church; she enjoyed making crafts and camping at Bowman Lake.
Surviving are her husband James; a daughter and son in law Rachael and William Paddock of Unadilla Forks; a sister and brother in law Charlotte and Frank Morgan of Lisle; a brother and sisters in law Morris and Janice Brown of Hamilton; Agnes Brown of Bouckville; Virginia Brown of MA. Her grandchildren, Brian Paddock of Unadilla Forks; Laurie and Clarence Smith of New Berlin; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren and many niece and nephews including a niece Joyce Brown.
She was predeceased by four brothers Maynard, Ben. Al, and Lester Brown and her feline companion Mystery.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Knoxboro- Augusta Cemetery, Knoxboro.
The family gathered at the W. Edmeston Baptist Church Parish House at 4 p.m. for those unable to attend graveside service.
