NORWICH – Floyd Frederick Bush, 99, a life long resident of Norwich, passed away Tuesday evening, Nov. 8, 2011 in the Chestnut Park Nursing Home of Oneonta.
Floyd was born in Norwich in February of 1912, the son of Barney and Rosa Osterwald Bush. He grew up in Norwich and had attended the Norwich Schools. On Oct. 15, 1937 in Norwich he married Dorothy Christian who survives. Over his working career, Floyd had been employed by Craine Silo as V.P. of Sales for 30 plus years and later was employed by Summner Bennington as a building contractor.
Throughout his life Floyd was an avid outdoorsman enjoying his hunting and fishing. He always enjoyed having a ‘good time’ and had been on several championship bowling teams in the City of Norwich. Following his retirement Floyd and his wife enjoyed traveling and had made trips to Hawaii, Bermuda and also spent several winters in Florida.
Floyd is survived by his wife Dorothy of Oneonta, Arlien Daniels of Earlville, Patricia Wilson and husband Glenn of New Lisbon and Janet Collins and husband Dave of Sherburne, his grandchildren Chris Wilson and wife Kathy of Oneonta, Nichole DeMott and husband John of Yardley, Pa., Danyel O’Farrell and husband Brody of Annandale, Va. and Jay Collins of Yonkers. Also surviving are her great grandchildren Brad, Kyle, Kaley and Brayden along with several nieces and nephews.
Floyd was predeceased by his son Harold Floyd Bush and his sisters Evelyn Ball and Marion Cooper.
A funeral service for Floyd will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Scott Garno, pastor of St. Mathew’s Episcopal Church of Unadilla, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery of Mt. Upton.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m.
