NEW BERLIN – Melba E. Davis, 96, of New Berlin, passed away on Nov. 10, 2011 in Norwich.
Melba was born on Oct. 3, 1915 in the Town of Edmeston, the daughter of Eugene & Adieline (Gray) Bice. Her childhood was spent in the South Edmeston area.
On Nov. 2, 1930, Melba married Ira A. Davis in Waterville. He predeceased her on Aug. 25, 1961.
She was employed by Taco in Sherburne, and later worked at Chase Nursing Home for 10 years until her retirement in 1970.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, New Berlin, the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW 7914 Sidney, and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 92 of Waterville. She enjoyed the company of her friends, watching birds and making clothes.
Melba is survived by her two children; Mr. Shirley E. & Barbra Davis of Columbus, and Mrs. Gloria & Robert Alford of New Berlin, as well as 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one daughter Doris Ellis and nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Dakin Funeral Home LP with Reverend Douglas Horne officiating. Calling hours will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. prior to the funeral service.
The interment will be in the Edmeston Union Cemetery, Edmeston.
