PLYMOUTH – Kenneth Polmatier, 89, a life long resident of the Plymouth, Norwich area, passed away Tuesday evening, Nov. 29, 2011,at his residence.
Ken was born in Plymouth in May of 1922, the son of Percy and Sadie Underwood Polmatier. He was a 1939 graduate of Norwich High School, and attended one year of Bible College before entering the Army in 1942. During the service to his country, Kenneth received a Purple Heart and an Oak Leaf Cluster. Ken had work at Binghamton Psychiatric Center as a rehabilitator.
Ken was very active in the Bible Baptist Church, Norwich. He was a volunteer for 60-Plus, delivering meals, and he loved to fish.
Surviving is a niece, Brenda Palmatier of Norwich, a nephew Burton Winters of Gloversville, two great nephews, David Oare Jr. and Dusten Oare; two great nieces, Bree Oare, and Brittany Winters and 2 Great Great nephews, Gavyn and Rylan Oare. Also surviving is a sister-in-law Winifred Palamaro. He was predeceased by two brothers, Burton and Bernard.
Graveside services for Ken will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Southside Cemetery, Plymouth, with the Rev. Ralph Hinman officiating.
