COLUMBUS – Emmett L. Sutton, 69, of the Town of Columbus, passed away on Dec. 14, 2011 in Hamilton.
He was born on Oct. 19, 1942 in Norwich, the son of Kenneth and Lillian (Doane) Sutton. He was raised by his grandmother, Lenora Doane.
His childhood was spent in Norwich, where he attended the local schools.
Emmett was a truck driver and was later employed by the Pennysaver for 25-plus years. He was currently employed as a contractor for S&S Appliances of Norwich.
On May 23, 1998 he married Alta “Robbie” Fairchild-Sutton in Columbus.
Emmett loved the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Robbie, his children; Laverne Sutton, Merritt & Debbie Sutton, Michael Sutton, Matthew & Valerie Sutton, Mason & Raushanna Sutton, step children; Clark Andrews, Mark & Karole Andrews and Beth Moore. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, two brothers; Lyndon & Mark Sutton, one sister; Nancy Humphrey and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by one daughter; Annette Sutton and one brother; Barry Sutton.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Dakin Funeral Home, LP of New Berlin, with Reverend Stephen Reese officiating.
A dinner and gathering will be held at the Whitney House in the Town of Columbus following the memorial service for family and friends.
