OXFORD – Cleo “R” (Charley) Decker, of Oxford, died peacefully at home with his family around him. He was born on April 24, 1930 a son of the late Fred and Ada (Jones) Decker. On June 21, 1952 in Lambs Creek, PA he married Betty L. Palmer.
He is survived by his wife, Betty L. Decker of Oxford; his daughters, Ellen V. Fiero and husband David of Chesapeake, VA, Betty L. Glatzer of Syracuse, UT, and Penny Beebe of Ithaca; his sons, Robert Decker of Syracuse, and Michael Decker of Fr. Lauderdale, FL. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Daniel and Cindy Fiero of England, Mark Fiero of Chesapeake, VA, Capri Genung of Ithaca, Elizabeth and Roland Scott of Lancaster, SC, Heather Glatzer of Syracuse, UT, and David Glatzer of Salt Lake City, UT. 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his infant son, Cleo R Decker Jr., his son Charles Frederick Decker of Syracuse; his brothers, Ambrose (Bucky) Decker of Paris, France, and Walter Decker of Scranton, PA; his sisters, Audrey Tomb of Westfield, PA, Dora Rarrich of Horseheads, and Barbara Keegan of Akron, OH.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy, retiring in 1968. He also retired from the NYS Department of Labor in 1992. He was a member of Dryden Post #1134, American Legion, Dryden VFW Post 8158, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, NY Chapter #60. He was also a member of Dryden Lodge # 472 F&AM, Dryden Chapter # 250 and a past Patron, and Valley of Binghamton, AASR. He loved to drive around the countryside.
At his request there will be no services.
