CANASTOTA – Donald P. Truax, 70, of Canastota, passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2012 at Oneida Healthcare Center, Oneida.
He was born Aug. 28, 1941 in Norwich, a son of the late Frederick and Alice Pike Truax and was a graduate of Sherburne High School. Don was a craftsman and had worked as a machinist for several area machine shops until his retirement. He was a sportsman who loved hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his children, Maria, Charles, Donna and Christopher; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frederick and Rita Truax and Arlo Truax, all of Sherburne; Robert and Barbara Truax of Morganton, N.C.; several grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Frederick Truax, his mother and step-father, Alice and Arlo Foster, two brothers, David and Walter Truax; and three sisters, Beverly Gilbert, Sandra Maricle and Connie McNeiece.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in the South Plymouth Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. prior to the service.
