EASTON, Pa. – James J. Powers, 51, of Easton, Pa., passed away at home with his family by his side on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012.
He was predeceased by his father, Richard C. Powers. “Jimmer” is survived by his wife, Jodi (Barton) Powers ; daughter, Clara ; son, Jacob; mom, Joyce M. Powers; brother and sister-in-law, Timothy and Scotti Powers and children, Kelly, William and Elizabeth; sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Jeffrey Maisonet and children, Sarah and Matt Caputo, Stephanie and Megan; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and James Davis and daughters, Heather, Hilary and Holly; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Michael and Jane Cowan and sons, Matt and Brian and Jim and Karen Strenkert.
Jimmer graduated from Greene Central School Class of 1979. He received an Associates Degree from Broome Community College in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed by Space Saver Systems of New Jersey. He enjoyed working on cars, woodworking, four wheeling and he was an all around handy man. He loved life!
A funeral mass will be offered 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, Greene. A luncheon will follow at the Greene Fire Department. Friends of the family may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango Street, Greene.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lehigh Valley 2166 South 12th Street, Allentown, Pa. 18103.
