MORRIS – Kimberly Sue “Kim” Stockin, 51, of Morris, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012 at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.
She was born Oct. 27, 1960 in Oneonta the daughter of James and Suzanne (Nower) Mykytyn.
Kim graduated from Oneonta High School. Following high school, Kim received her cosmetology license.
On Aug. 14, 1982, Kim married Michael Stockin in Laurens.
Kim was an entrepreneur. She owned and operated several businesses including KMS Self Storage of Norwich and Embroidered Expressions. Also, together with her husband, Michael they owned and operated Kuntriset Kitchen and Bath Design Center in Norwich.
Kim was an avid softball player and a fantastic cook. She worked at several area restaurants in Oneonta and Cooperstown as a waitress and would do all of the cooking and catering when they would have an open house at Kuntriset Kitchen and Bath. For many years she coached the Oneonta youth soccer. Kim loved watching the I Love Lucy re-run episodes and collecting Lucille Ball memorabilia. She also had an extensive porcelain doll collection. Kim was very proud of her American Indian Heritage and had many artifacts displayed in her home. She enjoyed having a good time and making people laugh. She welcomed everyone into her home especially her son, Jarred’s friends. They all knew that if they needed a place to go they could always go to Kim’s. Kim was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed.
Kim was a member of the West Oneonta Croquet Club and the Morris Booster Club.
Kim is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Michael Stockin of Morris; one son Jarred Richard Stockin of Morris; one grandson, Bentley Michael Stockin; her father, James Mykytyn of West Oneonta; three sisters, Nanette and Michael Greeley of Oneonta, Zoeanne and Reid Sandner of Abington, Pa. and Pamela Bryant of West Oneonta; two brothers, Judd and Patricia Mykytyn of Oneonta and Kirt and Barbara Mykytyn of Oneonta; father-in-law, Arthur “Sam” Stockin of Oneonta; her best four legged friend, “Caly”; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins and numerous friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Suzanne Mykytyn and her mother-in-law, France Stockin.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A Service to Celebrate the Life of Kimberly S. Stockin will immediately follow at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverend Judith A. Thistle Chaplain at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
