McDONOUGH – John S. Harahus Jr., 66, of McDonough, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at his home, while surrounded by his family.
Born in Binghamton on Feb. 3, 1946, John was a son of the late John and Zadia Knapp Harahus, Sr. A longtime resident of the area, he served as fire commissioner for the Town of McDonough for the past 14 years.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Harahus; his sons, John (Missy) Harahus, III of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Peter Harahus of Binghamton; and a stepdaughter, Susan (Monty) Slack of Cobleskill. He also leaves behind his grandsons, Kyle, Kraig, and Cody Harahus; a granddaughter, McKensi Dyess; and his sisters, Julia Rosa of Unadilla, Zadia Robinson of Plymouth, Mass., and Krista (Larry) Cohenno of Willet.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Andrew Harahus and Richard Wood.
A memorial service will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Reverend William Haynes officiating. There will be no prior calling hours.
