William Giaquinto


SHERBURNE – William D. Giaquinto, 82, of Sherburne, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center, Johnson City.
He was born Dec. 15, 1929 in Sherburne, a son of the late Angelo and Myrtle Spaeth Giaquinto and received his education in Sherburne schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict from 1952-54. On April 30, 1960, he married Ann L. Collver in Norwich. Bill worked at T.A.C.O. in Sherburne for 35 years until his retirement. Following that, he worked as a custodian for the Norwich school district. He enjoyed bowling, and outdoor activities like fishing, ice skating and swimming. He also spent many wonderful hours doing jigsaw puzzles with his son.
Surviving are his wife, Ann; his son, William R. Giaquinto at home; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and James Shaheen of Sherburne, sister-in-law, Martha Giaquinto of Berkshire; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Paul and Francis Giaquinto.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Malachy’s Church, Sherburne.
Interment with military honors will be in St. Malachy’s Cemetery at a later date.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Friday from 4-7 p.m. the rosary will be recited at 3:30.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the Sherburne Emergency Squad, or to St. Malachy’s Food Pantry.
