Roy Guinn


CINCINNATUS – Roy Lewis Guinn, 71, of Cincinnatus, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012, at the Veteran’s Hospital, Syracuse, after an extended illness.
Roy was born in Preston on Jan. 21, 1941, a son of the late Ralph and Jessie Keplinger Guinn. In 1960, he entered and served eight years in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany as a mechanic with the 34th Infantry Division. He was a member of the Cincinnatus Fire Department Auxiliary and served as a former Fire Commissioner.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Guinn; and his children, Glenn (Gayla) Mattoon, Debrah (Tom) Valenti, Pete Guinn, Sheila (Joe) Jenne, Timothy (Annette) Guinn, Marlene (Greg) Chin, Rhonda (Bryce) Wehner, and Kenneth (Brandi) Guinn. He also leaves behind his brother, James (Linda) Guinn; sisters, Donna Guinn and Anna Mae Quincy; and sisters-in-law, Janet (Seymour Bradshaw) Hill, Bonnie (Alex) Evangelista, Virginia (Vernon) Guinn, and Charlotte (William) Guinn; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Bessie Brown; brothers, Vernon, William, and Robert Carl; sisters-in-law, Shirley Guinn and Diane Halliday; a brother-in-law, William Quincy; and grandchildren, Brandon and Angel.
A memorial service will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus on Friday at 4 p.m. with Reverend Matthew Smith officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2 p.m. until the start of the service at 4 p.m. Immediately following the memorial service, a luncheon will be served at the Cincinnatus Fire Station.
