PITTSFIELD – Thomas Robert Ray, 56 years old, of Pittsfield, passed away peacefully at his home on March 17, 2012.
Tom was born on Sept. 16, 1955 in New Berlin, the son of William and Geraldine (Hoag) Ray. His childhood was spent in the Edmeston area. He worked as a logger, carpenter and antique deafer. On March 11, 1989 he married Judith Ray who survives him.
Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing. lifting weights, collecting antiques, weekend poker games, spending time outdoors and lottery tickets. He always had a joke or a story to tell. He also loved spending time with his family, friends, wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children: Joe & Erica Ray of South New Berlin, Tanya Miller of Norwich, Timothy & Jennifer McCarthy of New Berlin, Billiejo Ray & Thomas Crandall of New Berlin, Brittany Ray & Stanley Holbert of Edmeston as well as 12 grandchildren including “papa’s girl,” Shania Crandall. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Karen & John Nutt, Susie Harrington, Billy & Mickey Ray, Barney & Sue Ray, Robbie & Terry Ray, Roger & Vickie Ray, Patty & Bruce Tiffany, Paula & Wayne Bodie; a very dear and loving sister and her husband, Wilma & Randy Harrington; as well as five other siblings. Brothers and sisters-in-law: William & Bonnie Conklin, Don & Marge Anthony, Kelley Gilstrap; mother-in-law; Mary Conklin; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and very dear friend, Harry Rinehart.
He was predeceased by his parents, Geraldine & William Ray Sr. and one brother, Joseph Ray.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Dakin Funeral Home, LP of New Berlin, with Pastor Kurt Funke officiating. Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, also at the funeral home.
The interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery, South New Berlin.
