NORWICH – Richard T. Barnes, 60, a life long resident of Norwich, passed away Sunday morning, April 29, 2012, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Richard was born on March 18, 1952 in Norwich, the son of Richard W. and Betty A. Humphrey Barnes. Soon after his graduation from the Norwich High School, he gained employment with Victory Markets as a computer operator. He subsequently went to work in the early 1990s for the New York Central Mutual Ins. Co. where he continued to work in the computer field.
A quiet individual, Richard enjoyed taking walks, working in his vegetable garden, raising pumpkins, which he truly had a passion for and traveling with his wife to the Amish Country in Pennsylvania.
On May 10, 1980 he married Cheryl Curnalia who survives. Besides his wife Cheryl, Richard is survived by his children Adam Barnes of Norwich, his daughter Libby Barnes also of Norwich, his parents Richard W. and Betty Barnes of Norwich along with his siblings and extended family.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at a later date. There are to be no calling hours.
