William Jones


EARLVILLE – William A. “Bill” Jones, 66, of Campbell Rd., passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at UHS/Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich.
He was born Dec. 11, 1945 in Oneida, a son of the late Lester and Blanche Miller Jones and was a graduate of Georgetown High School. He married Glenda M. Smith in South Plymouth on Oct. 25, 1969. Bill was a dairy farmer in South Lebanon until 1974. Following that, he worked in the maintenance department of the Otselic Valley School District for several years, and then for the Benedict Trailer Park in Hamilton until his retirement. Bill’s family was his life and being with them was his greatest pleasure. He enjoyed hunting and gardening. He also loved history and politics.
Surviving are his children, Autumn and Scott Markowski of Oxford; Art Jones and his fiancée, Joanne Pantojas of Norwich; brother and sister-in-law, John and Jean Jones of Greenback, TN; brother-in-law, Dutch Ducharme of FL; five grandchildren, Chrystina Jones, Deanna Jones, Brandon Jones Markowski, Marianne Jones and Ben Crandall; his former wife, Glenda Whitehead of Oneonta; several nieces and nephews, and his canine companion, TC. Also surviving is a very special person, his caregiver, Brittney Evon. He was predeceased by his sister, Carol Ducharme.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville, followed by interment in the Lebanon Valley Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
