NORWICH – Robert W. McPeek, 97, of Norwich, passed away Tuesday morning, June 5, 2012, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Bob was born on the family farm in Mount Cobb, Pa. in August of 1914, the son of Linus and Minnie Neville McPeek. His early years were spent working on the family farm until he started doing road work and driving truck in the Scranton area. In 1941 Bob moved to the Sidney - East Guilford area where he gained employment with the Scintilla and its successors, where he worked as a machine operator retiring in 1977. In the fall of 1978, Bob moved to Polkville Hill, where he made his home for many years.
Bob was a longtime member of the Assembly of God Church in Norwich.
On Sept. 19, 1936 in Lake Ariel, Pa., he married Vergie Spanzenburg, who passed away Oct. 26, 2009.
Bob is survived by his sons Francis (Miriam) McPeek of Georgia and Harold (Vicki) McPeek of Maine, 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Bob will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. from the Assembly of God Church in Norwich. The Rev. Dennis McKenna, pastor, will officiate.
Interment will be at the Elmdale Cemetery in Lake Ariel, Pa.
Friends may call at the Assembly of God Church on Monday from 10-11 a.m.
