SHERBURNE – Donald Brokaw, 74, of Kendrick Rd., passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2007 at his home.
He was born Jan. 11, 1932 in Wyckoff, N.J., a son of Russell and Henrietta Dienema Brokaw, and attended local schools there. He joined the U.S. Army in 1952, serving as a medic in Germany until 1954. On Feb. 5, 1955, Donald was united in marriage to Alma M. Pauls in Wycoff. After moving to New York, Don worked for Best Brands in Hamilton, and then for Colgate University until his retirement. One of his greatest pleasures while working at Colgate was operating the Zamboni at the hockey games. The hockey players affectionately called him “Moose,” a nickname that stuck. Don loved horticulture, and enjoyed mowing the lawns and gardening at his home. He also loved his cats.
Surviving are his wife, Alma; a son, Donald Brokaw, Jr. of Sherburne; two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna Brokaw-Cummings and Daniel Cummings of Gates, NC, and Catherine Brokaw of Rochester; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet and Harold Troast of Florida, Ruth and George Broseman of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Heidee, Kylee, Timothy and Christopher; two great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephew and cousins. A brother, Robert Brokaw predeceased him.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne.
There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
