NORWICH – Eugene L. “Stretch” King, 66, of Norwich passed away unexpectedly, Sept. 5, 2012, in Norwich.
Stretch was born in McDonough on Feb. 22, 1946 the son of Clarence and Nellie Watts King. He attended school in Oxford and over the years has worked for the Dunckel Egg Farm, the Norwich Shoe Co and most recently the Gladding Corp. from which he retired.
A quiet kind of guy, Stretch enjoyed playing his lottery tickets, attending auctions and flea markets, fishing and watching the deer. In 1972 in Norwich he married Mary Fowlston, who survives.
Besides his wife Mary, Stretch is survived by his daughters Jennifer King of Oxford, Wendy Silvernail and husband Kevin of Cortland; his step-daughter Valerie Sisco and husband Keith and their family; his sister Theabelle Miller of NC; and his brothers LaVerne King and wife Donna of Madison, Patrick King and wife Diane of Sherburne and Clarence “Dutch” King of Smyrna. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Billy-Jo, Sadie, Kaylee, Jennifer, Kevin Jr., Tyler, Jonathan, Brianna and Serenity, his great grandson Maveric, his very good friend Calvin Harshbarger Sr. and his caregivers Brad and Sally.
Stretch was predeceased by his sisters Lydia Arias, Clara Clink and Vivian Howe.
A funeral service for Stretch will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Earlville, will officiate. Interment will follow in the J.D. Lewis Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9-11 a.m.
