CLAYTON MANWARREN
NORWICH – Clayton E. Manwarren, 72, of Norwich passed away Sunday evening, Sept. 9, 2012, at his home.
Clayton was born in Norwich on April 14, 1940, the son of Arley and Margaret Brazee Manwarren. He attended school in South Otselic as well as Unadilla. Over the years he has made his home in North Pharsalia, South Otselic and Unadilla. A hard worker all of his life he had worked on his farm, the Tracy Baking Co. and had been grounds keeper at Colgate University. A woodsman at heart, Clayton was happiest in the woods where he would cut and sell pulp and firewood. A veteran of the United States Army, he served his country from August of 1957 until his honorable discharge in August of 1962.
On May 2, 2009 in Plymouth, he married Glenda Cole Maine, who survives. Besides his wife Glenda, Clayton is survived by his children Paris Price and husband Jeff of Sherburne, Brian Manwarren of Norwich, Milinda Backo and husband Joe of Sherburne, his step-children Tina Reynolds of Beaufort, S.C., Jamie Bennett and husband Michael of Port Wentworth, Ga. and Tammy Booth of Chesapeake, Va. Also surviving are his sisters Gloria Fox and husband Floyd of Otselic, Shirley Collar and husband Bob of Sherburne, Sandra Kennedy and husband Ralph of Oxford and his brother Clarence Manwarren and wife Dawn of Oxford as well as nine grandchildren, one great grandson, seven step-grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren, one uncle, three aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and last but by no means least his canine friend China.
He was predeceased by his daughter Peggy Sue Bevilacqua and brothers Wilson “Bugsy” and Glenn Manwarren.
At Clayton’s request there will be no formal funeral services.
