NORWICH – Margot Peterson, 99, of Norwich, and formerly of Glen Spey, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at the Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Born Sept. 27, 1912, in Gottingen, Germany, Margot was the daughter of Hans and Sophie (Blochwitz) Ostermann. Raised in Staten Island, she graduated from Curtis High School and attended Hunter College. She worked for many years as bookkeeper and administrative assistant for several different companies. In 1961, she married Gus Peterson, who died in December 1996. Besides her parents and husband, Margot was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Klaus and Elisabeth Ostermann.
Margot was a very devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Surviving are her daughter, Heike Kilgore, and her husband, Richard, of Norwich; three grandchildren, Karin (George) Green of Glens Falls, James (Tiffany) Kilgore of Schwenksville, Pa., and Kristin (Stephen) Kuntz of Randolph, N.J. Seven great-grandchildren, a nephew and two nieces also survive.
At Margot’s request, there will be no service or calling hours. A memorial gathering will take place in Glen Spey at a later date.
