NORWICH – Alice Eno Dreyer, 86, of Norwich and formerly of New Berlin, died peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, in the comfort of her family and with faith in God.
Alice was born on Dec. 22, 1925, in Honesdale, Pennsylvania, to Daniel M. Eno and Laura (Grazier) Eno, who both predeceased her. On Sept. 7, 1946, Alice married Lewis E. Dreyer of Honesdale, and the couple shared 51 years together living in New Berlin, where they raised two sons. Alice was talented in various home crafts and was involved in many community organizations and activities, particularly New Berlin Youth Days and the American Cancer Society. She worked at Preferred Mutual Insurance for many years and was a member of the United Methodist Church in New Berlin.
Alice is predeceased by her husband, Lewis, and by two brothers, Clifford Eno and Robert Eno. She is survived by two brothers, Gerald Eno of Butler, Pa., and Alfred Eno of Johnson City, and by two sisters, Dorothy Samson of Lake Ariel, Pa, and Nancy Thomas of Neffs, Pa. She is also survived by sons Thomas E. Dreyer (Karen) of Oxford and Todd D. Dreyer (Susan) of Norwich, and by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home at 116 North Broad Street in Norwich. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church at 94 North Broad Street, Norwich.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the New Berlin Library or to Chenango County Hospice. Alice’s family wishes to thank the many caregivers and staff at Chenango Memorial Hospital and the Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center who cared for her so selflessly during the past two years.
