NORWICH – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our husband and father, Steve “Sarge” Sergent, on July 6, 2012. Steve was born Aug. 16, 1960.
Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife of 23 years, Mary Ann Sergent and his sons Joshua and Michael. Steve is also survived by his siblings, David Sergent, Sally Galler, Betty Scholl and Sharon Raymond. Steve was predeceased by his parents, Leona and Harold Sergent.
For the past 23 years, Steve embraced life and the things he loved most. He was known to light up the room with his optimism and cheerful outlook on life. Steve was passionate about hunting and deeply enjoyed spending quality time on “the hill” hunting with his son. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and was an avid Ski-Doo enthusiast, and traveled yearly to Presque Isle, Maine with his close friends. Steve loved spending time with his beloved wife Mary. Most weekends the two were found camping in Boonville. They also frequented Topsail Island, North Carolina where the two shared their love for the beach. More recently, Steve rekindled his passion for motorcycling and spent many hours traveling on his Victory Cross Country with Mary.
Steve worked for Chenango County Department of Public Works for 22 years. Starting out as a laborer, Steve worked various positions before becoming the Bridge Foreman. Steve always spoke highly of his co-workers and was loved by all that he worked with over the years. He was particularly fond of his bridge crew.
Friends and family may come to call on Oct. 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad Street in Norwich.
