NORWICH – Ronald L. Steward, 78, of Norwich, passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 25, 2012, in Norwich.
Ron was born on May 26, 1934 in Norwich, the son of Ralph and Vivian Franklin Steward. He attended the Norwich schools and on Aug. 16, 1954 he entered the United States Army, serving his country until his honorable discharge on July 3, 1956. On May 28, 1961 in Edmeston, he married Yvonne Clark, who survives.
Ron’s working career as an electrician began with Osborne Electric and he subsequently became employed with I.B.E.W. Local 325 where he worked for 30 plus years. A family man at heart, he enjoyed spending time with wife, children and grandchildren. In his spare time, Ron liked to fish and hunt.
Ron is survived by his wife of 51 years, Yvonne Steward of Norwich; his sons Kevin Steward and wife Gail of Georgetown, Del., Kert Steward and wife Kathleen of Celina, Texas; his sister Frances Wallace of Norwich; and his grandchildren Matthew, Benjamin and Brittney Steward and Josh Steward and companion Ashley Conant, Dillon and Ian Steward.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Ron was predeceased by his brothers, Kenneth, Robert, Paul and Ralph.
Private graveside services for Ron will be held from the J.D. Lewis Cemetery of Preston.
