HAMILTON – Donald G. Dungey Sr., 62, of State Route 12 B, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007.
Born Dec. 6, 1944 in Smyrna, he was a son of Frank and Betty Holcomb Dungey and received his education in local schools. On June 13, 1992, Donald was united in marriage to Sandra L. Wickenhofer in Sherburne. Don was a truck driver for Norwich Beverage for 17 years. Previously, he had worked for Chenango Valley Pet Foods, TACO and the rendering works in Sherburne. In his younger days, he worked with his dad in his service station and trash removal service.
Mr. Dungey was a member of the Christian Baptist Church in Sherburne. He was also a member of the Chenango Bird Club and had an extensive eagle collection. He enjoyed doing word search puzzles and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Sandy; his mother, Betty Dungey of Earlville; his children, James Dungey of Sherburne, Brian Dungey of Hamilton, Jennifer and Corey Webb of Sherburne; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Tanner and Jaden; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Don Doing of Coventry, Linda Dungey of Sherburne, Margaret and Roger Palmer and Nancy Dungey, all of Earlville, Vanessa and Mark Pullman of Sloansville; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Shelly Dungey of Sherburne; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Donald, Jr., a granddaughter, Hayleigh, his father, Frank, a brother, Charles, and his in-laws, Wesley and Barbara Wickenhofer.
A Memorial Service will be held at noon Saturday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
Contributions may be made to the Christian Baptist Church, Route 12, Sherburne; or consider becoming a member of the Living Donor Program in his memory.
