GERMAN – Maude E. Nelson, 85, of Cortland, and formerly of German, passed away on Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at the Cortland Care Center.
 Mrs. Nelson was born in McDonough on Oct. 10, 1921, a daughter of the late Edwin and Lucinda Gates Dunn. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a member of the German Baptist Church where she served as the clerk and a Sunday School teacher. For many years, she worked on the Town of German Election Board.  She was also a 4-H Club leader for a brief time. On Jan. 4, 1941, she married Harold Nelson.
 In addition to her husband of 66 years, Harold Nelson, she is survived by her children, Jerry (Bonnie) Nelson of Norwich, Jeanette Nelson of Cortland, Dorothy (David) Young of Michigan, Barbara (Lewis) Young of Weedsport, Robert (Teresa) Nelson of McGraw, and Phillip (Pip) Nelson of Chandler, Ariz. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Edwin Dunn, Jr. and Sam Dunn and a sister, Doris Lewis.
Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, at noon on Saturday with Rev. Palmer Neumeister officiating. 
Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, German. The family will be present to receive friends on Saturday morning from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at noon.
