OXFORD – Ellen “Ellie” Mascolo, 62, of Oxford, passed away on Dec. 6, 2012 after a valiant battle with cancer.
She was born on Feb. 28, 1950 in Brooklyn, a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (West) Chapple.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony Mascolo of Oxford; her son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Jacqueline Hanrahan of Sayville, NY and their children, Emily, Shannon and Ryan; her daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Scott Bennett of Sidney and their children, Scott, Jr. and Olivia; and her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Grace Chapple of Neptune, NJ. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Ellie was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Bainbridge and worked in the church office. She had also worked as a supervisor of security at several department stores, before working for NY State Senator Martin Knorr. She was a former Cub Scout leader and Girl Scout leader. She had also worked in the office of St. Joseph’s Church in Oxford. She loved gardening and especially loved growing African Violets.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Catholic Church, Bainbridge. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Oxford.
Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
