EARLVILLE – John Jack Wiltsie, 80, of Fayette St., passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012 at the Hospice House of Brunswick in Bolivia, NC.
He was born September 5, 1932 in Evans Mills, a son of Arthur and Lois Howland Wiltsie and was a graduate of the Elmira Free Academy. John was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and had served for three years in Germany. On April 27, 1957, he married Wilma Jean Woodford in Odessa. John was an inspector at Baillie Lumber in Smyrna for over 30 years until his retirement. For the last fourteen years, he and Jean spent their winter months in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
John was a member of the American Legion Post #236 of Earlville and the Barker Brook Golf Club.
Surviving are his wife, Jean; his children, Patricia Wiltsie of Earlville; Richard and Tammie Wiltsie of Oxford; an honorary daughter, Peg Hoefler of Earlville; sister, Editha Tetrault of Latham; brothers and a sister-in-law, Kenneth and Minnie Wiltsie of Delta, CO; and Hollis Wiltsie of Elmira; grandchildren, Jeremy and Justen Rickard, and Courtney Wiltsie; great-grandchildren, Madison, Ryan, Donovan, Aubry, and Paige; honorary great-grandchildren, Olivia and Jacob Dunham; many nieces, nephew and special friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Gertrude Campbell, and two brothers, Gerald and Ronald Wiltsie.
A Memorial Service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
