SMITHVILLE FLATS – Arnold L. Hall, 92, of Smithville Flats, formerly of Greene and McDonough, went peacefully to meet his wife and his Lord Jesus Christ at Heaven’s Gate on Jan. 18, 2007.
Arnie was a graduate of Greene Central School and worked 19 years for the Raymond Corporation as an electronics engineer. In his younger days, he was a pilot who loved to fly his plane locally for recreation. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. His favorite hobby was being amateur radio operator, whose call was W2EDL. He enjoyed talking to his “ham radio” buddies both near and far, and kept in daily contact with them right up to a few days before his death.
He is survived by three daughters and son-in-laws, Linda and William Davis of Smithville Flats, Brenda and Roger Milk of N. Pharsalia and Sherrie and Lyndon Watson of Wetumpka, Ala.; six grandchildren, Geoff and Annette Davis of Hobe Sound, Fla., Amy and Mike Kehoe of Greene, Brian and Jamie Milk of Greene, Marcia and Todd Wells of Greene, Michael Watson and Private First Class Wade Watson of Wetumpka, Ala.; ten great-grandchildren, Brett and Kianna Davis, Ashley and Joey Tomanek, Emily, Victoria and Ryan Milk, Matthew and Tatianna Wells, and Savannah Watson along with many nieces and nephews.
Arniewas predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Grace Excell Hall, and a grandson, Mark Davis.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. from the Root Funeral Home, 23 North Chenango St., Greene. Interment will be in Sylvan Law Cemetery, Greene, in the Spring. Reverend Norman Holtz will be officiating. Calling hours were at the Root Funeral Home, Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Smithville Emergency Squad or the Greene Emergency Squad.
