SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Carl J. Burk Sr., 67, of South New Berlin, passed away in his home suddenly on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012.
Carl was an Army Veteran who served in Vietnam. He was an active member of the South New Berlin Fire Department, serving as Fire Chief for many years. He was employed at the Butternuts Cemetery Association in Gilbertsville, as a groundskeeper for over the last 20 years.
Carl is survived by his wife of 38 years Kathleen Burk; son Carl J. Burk Jr.; daughter in law Samantha Burk, and grand-children Trevor Ambrose and Aurora Burk. He is also survived by a sister, Ann Christian, a brother, Charlie Burk, niece Teresa Pope and nephews Troy Christian and Kevin Christian. He also has numerous great nieces and nephews, along with countless friends. Carl was predeceased by his older sister Laura Erikson.
A memorial service to celebrate and remember Carl’s life will be held at the South New Berlin Fire Department on Thursday, Jan. 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. A committal will be held in the spring at Butternut Valley Cemetery, in Gilbertsville.
