SHERBURNE – Lucille Shawler Hilsinger, 84, of State Highway 80, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007 at her home.
She was born Sept. 8, 1922 in Columbus, a daughter of Hoyt and Mildred Carpenter Shawler. She attended New Berlin Central School and received her BS from Keuka College. On June 15, 1946, Lucille was married to Francis B. Hilsinger in Sherburne. She had worked for General Electric Co. in Schenectady, and then for General Instrument Corp. (formerly Technical Appliance Corp.) in Sherburne for 28 years, retiring in 1983.
Mrs. Hilsinger was a communicant of St. Malachy’s Church in Sherburne and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Surviving are her husband, Francis; a son, Fred Hilsinger of Sherburne; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Craig Powell of Cape Vincent; a sister and brother-in-law, Rosemary and Don Albrecht of Endicott; a brother and sister-in-law, Wendell and Mary Shawler of Melbourne, Fla.; her grandchildren, Melissa Powell of Rochester, Jeremy and Kylie Powell of Watertown and Taylor Hilsinger of Sherburne; a great-granddaughter, Jenna Powell; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Dorothy Shawler, and a sister and brother-in-law, Roberta and Bill Hindmarch.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Malachy’s Church, Sherburne
Burial in St. Malachy’s Cemetery will be made at the convenience of the family.
In keeping with Lucille’s wishes there will be no calling hours.
