NORWICH – Funeral services for Barbara Mirabito were held on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007 at The Church of St. Bartholomew where Rev. Douglas Cunningham, pastor, celebrated a Mass of Resurrection.
Mass began with Barbara’s children, Barbara McGuire, Patricia Van Hoover, Diane Hust, and Dennis, Frank and Tim Mirabito placed the baptismal pall upon the casket. Daughter Elizabeth, then placed her mom’s rosary on the pall. The readings for the Mass were proclaimed by daughters, Judy White and Laurie Echevarria and grandchildren, Andrew and Patrick Coates. The offertory gifts were presented to Father Cunningham by grandchildren, Kelly Luther, Katie Voss, Maureen Mirabito and Ashley Mirabito. Daughters Susan Ziesche and Kathy Coates spoke in remembrance. Daughter-in-law Nancy Mirabito served as Eucharistic Minister while Susan Ticknor and Bertha DeFonzo paid musical tribute.
Serving as casket bearers were Mary Jane Barrows, Ken and Eric Mirabito, Alan Ziesche, Ray Young, Matt and Tim Hust, Mike McGuire and Jonathan Mirabito.
On Friday afternoon at the Wilson Funeral Home, Mary Ann Bodiot, parish minister, led the family in the recitation of the rosary. On Friday evening, Father Frederick Manara, a former assistant priest at St. Bartholomew’s, conducted a wake service.
