NORWICH – Ronald R. (Ron) Finch, 50, of Binghamton and former longtime resident of Norwich, went to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, Feb. 2, 2013 in Lourdes Hospital of Binghamton.
Ron was born in Norwich on May 21, 1962 the son of George and Mary Ray Finch Sr. He grew up in Norwich where he attended the Norwich Schools. A hard worker all of his life, Ron started at an early age by delivering papers for The Evening Sun and had worked in the circulation department of the newspaper. He also had been employed by the Grand Union in Norwich, the Mobil Station and Howard Johnson’s where he met his wife of 26 years. Ron will best be remembered as a bus driver for Chenango County Transit in Norwich for several years. Moving to the Binghamton area with his family 5 years ago, Ron was currently a transportation driver for Elizabeth Church Manor in Binghamton. He had also worked for Life Gas and the Family Enrichment Network as a driver both located in the Binghamton area.
Ron loved people, especially his family and friends, and enjoyed making them laugh. He always had a smile on his face which he was ready to share. It goes without saying that next to his wife Connie and daughter Jessica, who were always at his side, Ron LOVED food. His cooking abilities were second to none and he could make a feast from nothing at all. Family and friends would rave about his talents and they would all enjoy sampling his creations.
In his down time, Ron enjoyed hiking, camping, picnics, taking care of his fish tanks, taking walks through cemeteries and spending time with his canine friend Ginger.
On Feb. 28, 1987 in Norwich, he married Connie Quattrocchi, who survives. Besides his wife Connie of Binghamton, Ron is survived by his daughter Jessica Finch of Binghamton, his sisters Barb Coy and husband John of Holmesville, Debra Finch also of Holmesville, his brother George Finch Jr. and wife Jerri of Norwich and his life long friend Dale Grey of Virginia. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles also survive.
A funeral service for Ron will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Brian Conover, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church of Norwich, will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m.
Please consider memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, 13 Beech St., Johnson City, NY 13790.
